The Philippines now has the highest number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases across Southeast Asia, with 3, 426 new cases reported on Wednesday, August 5.
The Department of Health (DOH) reported the total number of covid-19 cases at 115, 900 overtaking Indonesia with 115, 056 cases.
Areas with highest number of new cases in the country include Metro Manila with 2,434, Laguna with 105, Rizal with 101, Cavite with 73, and Cebu with 62.
Moreover, total recoveries from the pandemic rose to 66,270 with 222 new recoveries, while death toll climbed to 2,123 with nine new fatalities and active cases at 47,587.
Metro Manila along with Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal were placed under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine on August 4 until August 18.
